Lakawon island

The day after the amazing Maskarra festival, three friends and I jumped on a bus and headed north in search of Lakawon island. We had heard stories of its white sand and crystal blue waters from another volunteer and were determined to see it for ourselves. A two hour bus ride later we were dumped on the side of the road where we transferred to a tricycle driving past fields of sugar cane, caribous and small villages. Finally we reached the sea and got a boat to the island. It was every bit as beautiful as promised...as you can see from the photos.
