The Irish of Asia

Have spent a week playing tour guide to my lovely friend Amy who jetted in just after the typhoon. On Sunday we headed down to Puerta Galera for some beach time. Unfortunately the weather wasn't very cooperative..the seas were huge and sky was stormy so we didn't get much of a chance to work on our tans. But still had some very relaxing hammock time and of course a few mango shakes.

Back in Manila we had a great day exploring Intramuros, the old Spanish part of the city as well as some of my favourite Manila haunts.

Quote of the week was Amy's comment that Filipinos are "The Irish of Asia"...because they like to sing, have a good time, enjoy the odd drink and have had a pretty tough colonial history. Personally I think the theory is flawed due to the lack of potatoes in this country.
