Disparity

As much as I loved my trip to Tagaytay on Saturday I did feel a bit guilty...guilty that I could go somewhere so beautiful and afford a lunch that for many in the Manila is equivalent to a week's wage. I know that disparity is everywhere but here in Manila it confronts you everyday- not as well hidden as it is in other countries. One the one hand you have ridiculously wealthy Filipinos - people like the Ayala family who live a Hollywood lifestyle of posh hotels, parties and drivers. And everyday they drive by shanty towns full of families who struggle to scrape together enough money to feed their many children. I thought this picture summed it up pretty well...
