Sipilay
Taking advantage of a long weekend I joined a group of Aussie volunteers for three days of fun and sun. On Friday night I flew into Bacolad (on the island of Negros) for a housewarming and night of high jinx before catching a local bus down the coast to Sipilay on Saturday. The bus ride was long, at times painful but always interesting- five hours of bumpy roads and mad driving with vendors and missionaries jumping on and off to sell many varieties of food and religious beliefsWe arrived in Siplilay tired and in need of a swim and relaxing evening which was just what we got at the Artistic Diving Resort. On Saturday we hired a boat and sailed out to Turtle island for some diving and snorkeling. Lunch was rice and fish grilled on the beach- absolutely delicious. In the evening inspired by some strong fruit punch, we had a hilarious contest of wheelbarrow races and beach volleyball. A really great weekend with really great people!
