Durian in Davao

"Smells like hell, tastes like heaven" that's what locals here say about durian.

Davao City is famous for its durian so on my visit there recently, I took up the challenge and tasted the stinky fruit. We stopped at a roadside stand where a friendly durain seller cut the fruit open leaving us to scoop out chunks and eat with our hands. I was surprised at the fruit's creamy texture but wasn't sold on the taste...might take a couple more tries before I believe it is truly heavenly!
